The Awards Came In!

Every year, around this time, Royal LePage will let us know how we did for that year. I never give it any thought until I get an email or a call (or an actual letter!) that I won something. I sometimes wonder if others are struggling like me or if they are excelling like me (depends on the year, of course). I am not a member of a team or attend much that my office sets up for get-togethers, etc so it is difficult to gauge how others are doing. And, to be honest, I don’t particularly like comparing myself to others in this business. The fact is, it is a difficult, if not impossible, career. Most don’t make it – an average of 87% of Realtors fail. It is demanding and competitive and a lot of our work never receives a payment/commission. Imagine a job where every morning you wake up unemployed and you need to go to a job interview (or several) each day...every day. Not to mention being “on call” all day and night. It is definitely a mental game. You can have days/weeks/months with business rolling in and then there are days/weeks/months where the “phone won’t ring”. That is incredibly stressful. So, aside from this post, there will be other Realtor friends or family posting their accomplishments over the next few weeks. Give them a “like” or a big “Congrats!” because it was probably a hard battle to get that award. To stay focused, to push forward and to not give up on yourself. This year, I didn’t give up on myself.
Thanks to all my family, friends, colleagues, office support (Kathryn!), past and new clients for helping to make this happen. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
